>Simple DIY 2-Tier Stand

>I have officially completed my first post-moving project…and it feels GREAT!

It’s a really simple project that ANYONE can do!  It’s also thrifty…but I’m guessing you already knew that if you knew me at all 😉

Start out with some plates you like.  You can do round, square, anything really!  I just liked the look of these rectangular plates I got from Ross.  And at $3.99 each, it was a good deal!

Now, if you look at the picture above, you might notice something above the price tag.  Oh yes, that obnoxious ridge that serves no real purpose, that I didn’t realize was there until I took a picture of the price tag.  Dang it, just my luck!  I was planning on using 2 clear candlesticks for this project, BUT they wouldn’t fit over that ridge!  On to plan B…

I went through my “stash”…and found a cup I had bought at the thrift store for 50 cents.  It was already filled with some clear “marbles”, and I decided to leave them in there.  Although the ridge was driving me nuts, it did come in handy when I wanted to center the cup on the plate.

I used this glue from Lowes, which is supposed to be one of the better glues for glueing glass

I then simply glued a dollar store candlestick on upside down (so the wider edge could go over that ridge), and once I found the middle of the plate…I glued the two tiers together!  And now I have a simple and classy display for a work get-together today!

Then I got out the IKEA curtain that I just bought and had a fun little photo shoot:

This is definitely not a *new* idea – but it’s the first time I’ve made one!  I really like how it turned out!!

Cost Breakdown:
Plates: $7.98 (for 2)
Glass: Free for me (from my stash)…originally $1.50 for both
Glue: $2.97

Total Cost: $10.95

I also made these amazing lasagna cups to put on my new stand:

Be sure to check out the recipe (and beautiful pictures!) here

And one more picture…just to show you how silly my dog is – sometimes he likes to sit like a human:

Oh Buckley, I love you so much! 🙂

I’ll be linking up…
