>Plans & Pictures of the new place!

>If you missed the explanation of WHY I’m moving into my parent’s house, please read this post first.

You ladies made me cry last night.  THANK YOU ALL from the very bottom of my heart.  I have debated about how to write that post, and I finally just sat down and did it last night…and I am so glad I told all of you!  Your words of support and encouragement mean so much to me, and I can’t tell you how much every single word means to me.  THANK YOU!!

So, let’s begin this journey!!  Here’s a very rough and inaccurate blueprint made by me (if our contracter saw this he would probably cringe…oh well).  This is not to scale, it’s just to give you a general feel of the layout of the place so you can understand the pictures I’ll show you:

Here’s a picture of how it looks right now from the outside of the apartment (this would be the bottom right corner of the blueprint):

This is looking from the big window, to the living area and “work space”:

This is looking at the bottom right hand corner of the blueprint from the inside of the apartment…

This is looking from the “work space” to the top of the blueprint:

This is how it looked last week…we now have a big hole in the wall leading to the new kitchen!:

And here’s a picture of the bedroom!:

So, here it is! The contracter has started working on framing out the kitchen this week already, and I’ll share those pictures soon. My mom and I will be painting over that very minty green and bright yellow this weekend…I’m planning on neutral walls so I can accent with bold accessories in different colors.

Thanks so much for sharing in this journey with me!! I can’t wait! 🙂

PS- Don’t forget to enter my give-away!

  1. >Christina, I just read your last post, and I can relate. A year and half ago, we were put in the position where we HAD to sell our home, and move into a one bedroom basement suite, with two kids. It was a really tough year while we lived there, but we are very thankful for our friends who owned the house. You are so blessed to have such amazing parents. What a gift they are giving you! Whenever you start to feel shame, remember that those are lies. God doesn't care where you guys live, and most people probably don't either. You have been given an incredible opportunity that will enable you guys to be that much further ahead in a few years. Keep focusing on that :)God bless you both as you continue this journey together!PS: How nice that you have big windows in the basement suite! Lots of light makes a big difference in a basement. Can't wait to see your decorating adventures in it!

    >Christina-Moving from the previous post to this one, I just want to say that I (personally) think you guys are making a great decision and you are so lucky to have such a supportive family (and friends!). I love how you were able to take pictures and put words in for a visual representation. My mom was an interior designer before she died, and if she had been around with this kind of technology I'm sure she would have been doing the same thing! That's awesome!! Don't let this get your spirits down!! 🙂

  3. >You truly are lucky to have amazing parents that are renovating a realy home for you to live in for the next few years!

    >Christina- Your parents are amazing, you and your hubby will be able to save so much money! And a little update: I'm now 7 1/2 months pregnant with my little baby boy (Wyatt Joseph). He is so close to being able to wear the duck hooded towel! Oh, and I use my menu board EVERY day! ❤

  10. >CHristina this looks great!!! I'm sure it will be quite a transition, but a huge blessing! I can't imagine how much money we could save if we didn't have a mortgage for 3 years!! YOu will be able to buy so much nicer of a house with that big of a down payment… the brokers will LOVE you!! I can't wait to see what you do with this place.. it looks really great already!
