SPRING!

It’s HERE!!!!!

I don’t think you understand how happy this makes me ๐Ÿ™‚

To celebrate, I made this:

Want a tutorial? I’ve got one for you (even if you didn’t want one…muahaha) ๐Ÿ˜‰

First, I got this sheet music for 25 cents at my local ReStore. They’re Easter hymns…perfect!

I then tore the music into strips, and mod-podged the strips onto some white cardstock…

I made 6 sections because “spring” has 6 letters:

I let this dry, and then put it under some heavy books overnight to flatten it out.

Then, I used Word to make some letters to spell out “spring” and I printed them out:

I cut out the letters, and then traced them onto the mod-podged sheet music:
Then, I cut them out, and I smeared some ink on the edges of the letters to give it a little bit of an aged look.

Next, I got out my “canvas”. My mom gave me this old shutter (it used to be covering their fusebox!) and it was a perfect size for this project! I hot-glued the letters onto the shutter, and made them “hang” from some hot-glued ribbon:

My husband had the idea to tie in the music notes to spring…birds! Perfect!

Wait…let’s back that up a second. My husband…had an idea…about how to decorate…and I loved it…?! This might be a FIRST! WOW! I’m so excited!!!! Usually I get a, “Hm, sure, it looks great…”

I โค style=”display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;” src=”https://christinasadventures.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/spring2b20112b881.jpg?w=225″ border=”0″ alt=”” id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5586298142870720498″>
So I mounted them on some of the scraps of sheet music, and it made it much better!

Lastly, I switched out the original knob for this cute one I bought at Lowes for a project that never happened…

And it’s finished!!

Cost breakdown:

Shutter: Free
Sheet music: 25 cents
Knob: $2.97
Ribbon: Free (from my stash)
Total Cost: $3.22

Can’t you just hear the birds singing? HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll be linking to the great parties at the right side of my blog…go check them out!
