>Little birdy & old sweater pillow

>

So I got these sweaters from Goodwill for $2…

And no, I’m not planning on wearing them. I envisioned them on my couch…replacing some old pillowcases we’ve had for way too long (can you see one creeping in the left corner of the photo? Hahaha – totally not planned!)

This was suprisingly simple. I will have everyone know that I am NOT a seamstress. I own a sewing machine, and I can make simple stitches. By no means am I an accomplished sewer. So…you CAN do this project!

First, I cut off the top and sleeves. I was left with a sad looking square of knit fabric. I put the pillow insert in, and pinned the nice sides of the sweater together

I also had to take some in off of the sides. Once I pinned it, I took the insert out, and just sewed 4 straight lines. The nice thing about using a sweater is, you can sew all of the seams at one time…you just unbutton the buttons to turn it right-side out! So simple!

Haha, I totally disturbed Buckley’s nap to take this picture πŸ˜‰

So, I like it. But I don’t love it yet. Too plain. I decided to go searching online for a sillhouette of something simple and pretty…when I found a cute little bird. I traced him out…pinned him to some leftover fabric I had, and cut both of them at the same time

Then I pinned the fabric onto the pillow, and sewed about 1/4 inch or less from the outside of the bird. And this is what she looked like…

Cute, right? Now I’m still not 100% satisfied with this project…I wish the bird was bigger. But it’ll do for now πŸ™‚ The best thing about this is, as soon as I change my mind, I can just unbutton the back and take out the insert! Easy peasy!

Now I have some sweater sleeves leftover…I have seen the cutest ideas all over these blogs about what to do with them…I can’t decide which one to do!

But for now, I’ll just snuggle with Buckley on my little birdy pillow πŸ™‚

BTW – don’t forget to enter my giveaway! I ends by the end of this week!
